Maytag Dishwasher Recall
Maytag repairman working overtime as company announces massive recall!. The Maytag Man’s probably regretting all those ads where he whined about how little he had to do! Maytag’s announced the recall of 1-point-7 MILLION dishwashers sold between 2006 and April of this year. Why? There’s an electrical issue that can cause FIRES. Customers are being given the option of repairing their current unit or getting a rebate towards a new one.

Early 2000′s Maytag Washer/Dryer
You’ve all seen my vintage outside Maytag washer/dryer, so here’s the daily drivers inside. The washer is a model #LA19206BAE and dryer model #LDE8626ACE. I absolutely love these machines. The dryer was a trash find a street away and I bought the matching washer used about 2 years later in my favorite appliance parts store. It was the last washer using the orbital system before they went to the Norge workings, which I hated. I’ve had to put a timer and a water mixing valve in the washer, and a belt and about 3 fans on the dryer. The dryer is cool because it has a sensor dry system, called IntelliDry, which senses when the clothes are dry, then kicks the timer in gear which eventually shuts the dryer down at the perfect time everytime. You can see by the solid red lights the clothes are very wet still. When they get close to drying, the upper light flickers, then eventually goes out. The lower light remains on as long as the heater is activated.

Our rental house in Hawaii part 2

Now we go inside. Again, the house is 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus the guest apartment. There is no central air, which I wish it did have. It is not extremely hot in Hawaii, but it is kinda warm and humid. The house also does not have any kind of heat other than natural sunlight, but heat is rarely needed, if at all. This house does, however, have propane gas for the stove and dryer.
If I were going to install a central A/C and heating system, I would just go with a Carrier heat pump/air handler combination. This house would probably require at least two for the main residence, plus a possible third unit for the guest apartment.
