Here’s a wonderful commercial from the 1970′s for the Maytag Halo-of-Heat Dryer. I was surprised to see how the Maytag’s format choice for the commercial resembles detergent commercials of the time.

Phillips Electra 1980`s Washing Machine “Spin Drain”
This is a 1980`s Electricity Board Special Washing Machine, the Electra AWB665, made by Phillips in Hipperholme, Halifax,UK. Very popular machines featuring a Polypropelyne outer Drum and a Permanant Magnet Motor (Permag) which at the time had 10yr guarantees…!!!
This model takes a 9lb load & has an 800rpm variable spin speed. its other unique feature was that it started to spin with the tub full of water…this cushioned the clothes and distributed them evenly around the drum, the motor used permanant magnets instead of brushes etc was about half the size of other motors produced at that time.

Hoover Keymatic A3008 Washing Machine
Hoover A3008 Keymatic Auto Washer UK 1976, produced by hoover UK at Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. It used a revolutionary Keyplate to read the washing programmes instead of a conventional timer. You simply selected the square keyplate, identifying the wash programme you required and then inserted the Keyplate into a slot or Card reader in the front of the machine.
Then the reader read the individual slots and aligned them with the cams inside to determine the correct programme.
It was marketed as the machine that could wash any new clothing in the future as technically all you would have to do is buy a new keplate!!!

My 2009 Whirlpool Extra large Capacity Plus Top load washer.Features a porcelain tube, 4 speeds, 5 water levels X-Small,Small,Med,Large,X-Large.Now you notice how the water surges during fill-up. You do not get a 100% hot wash. it pulsates with hot and cold water. while its hotter then a warm wash its not a 100% pure hot wash.The washer won’t always neutral drain either. Sometimes the spin clutch will engage Prematurely. This is the main washer. The 95-96 speed queen is used out in the garage for shop rags and as a backup like when the lid switch broke on this washer.
